Overview - Ground Testing

The grounding electrode system in a substation and throughout the facility is extremely important in order to protect employees and equipment from the potential dangers of electrical fault current.   Fault current must adequately be recognized, isolated, and safely dissipated.  If the grounding electrode, grid, or connection to equipment is damaged or improperly constructed, fault current may not adequately be dissipated resulting in fires, explosions, or other damage to substation equipment and or the surrounding equipment.
